This is incredibly tasty & creamy for frozen risotto.

There’s new packaging and a changed recipe. Tried it tonight and don’t like it as much as the original.

Just tried the newly packaged and changed recipe for the Asparagus Risotto and was greatly disappointed. The old recipe was perfect and my go to side dish to have in the freezer for the last few years. Please go back to the old recipe!

I used to really love this but that last few bags I bought had some (read: a whole lot of) straw-like pieces in the sauce that made it inedible. Like someone dropped a basket into whatever machines chops the ingredients. It’s also more watery now.

The old recipe was my absolute favorite side at Trader Joe’s. I always kept it on hand. But the new recipe is disgusting. Looks like green baby vomit and doesn’t taste much better. The old recipe was creamy and full of fresh tasting asparagus just like you just made it yourself from scratch. The new one is chalky, grainy and watery. It has no flavor and hardly any asparagus it is just gross and inedible. When I complained they just said I could return it. Which is good but I want my old favorite back. Please if anyone can hear me bring back the old recipe!

The new version is such a disappointment compared to the original: the new one is a watery saffron-flavored rice, whereas the original had the flavor and texture of a real Italian risotto with asparagus. Sad to see this product go down the drain, as I really enjoyed the original.

They need to change it back. I agree with all the 1 stars. It used to be very good.

It looks amazing. It might taste amazing… but I really hate that it needed slaughtered animals to make this risotto. It is completely unnecessary on creating an amazing dish. I bought it and I was about to eat it when I read the ingredients. It contains ANIMAL RENNET > only possible if killing an animal to get it from their stomach. Hell no! I do not eat anything from dead animals. It’s ok if you want and like… I do not want or like it. Extremely disappointed. And money wasted (yes, it was my fault for not reading before buying it)

Tonight I cooked half a package and added a can of Trader Joe’s albacore tuna in olive oil plus a couple tablespoons of fresh lemon juice. Freshly grated parmesan on top. It was really good. The sauce was creamy and the rice was tender. Could have used a little Italian parsley to brighten it up some more, but it was still very tasty.
