  1. A box of chemicals, no, grazie.

I see pistachio, I will wanna try.
Open the box and you will see 4 floral-shaped scoops of pistachio and vanilla arranged in a checkerboard pattern.
The pistachio tastes artificially like pistachio and the vanilla tastes bland and coconut-oily. The texture is more like frozen cool whip than gelato.

Looking at the list of ingredients and the subtitle “gelato-style frozen dessert” will warn you it’s not exactly ice cream. Or gelato for that matter. Rather suspicious wording. The ingredients are basically all fillers and stabilizers.

I wanted to like it but I cannot recommend this, though I know other people will say it’s yummy.

Just buy your favorite gelato or ice cream instead.

  2. S

I can’t distinguish between ice-cream, gelato, or nut based ice-cream. So obviously, I can’t tell if this gelato is real or imitation. That being said, I think it tastes pretty good. Pistachio and fior di latte are two of my fave flavors. So I was excited when both were together in one carton, instead of buying separate cartons. I noticed that the pistachio flavor is different than what I’ve had in the past. The flower milk is not too sweet which I like. Overall it’s not as sweet as some of the sugary ones like the banana pudding. The texture is kinda like whipped cream, but when it re-freezes after melting, the texture changes to more like ice-cream.

  3. Yahoo “Trader Joe’s Is Being Slammed By Shoppers for Their New $5 Dessert: It’s a ‘Chemical Box'”

“Trader Joe’s shoppers are normally praising the grocery chain’s summer dessert debuts. This time around though, fans are not exactly ecstatic with customers’ latest sweet treat find. The Italian Pistachio & Fior Di Latte Gelato Style Frozen Dessert is gaining criticism online for its alleged artificial ingredients.

The company’s website details that the dessert is composed of Fior Di Latte Gelato (with the first six ingredients being water, sugar, coconut oil, glucose syrup, nonfat dry milk, and dextrose) and Pistachio Gelato (with the first six ingredients being water, sugar, coconut oil, glucose syrup, nonfat dry milk, and pistachio). None of the aforementioned ingredients are considered artificial, however, both cite ‘natural flavor’ in their ingredient list, which could mean that the flavoring underwent chemical processing.

“That ain’t no pistachio,” one customer commented on TikTok. “That’s a chemical box with pistachio flavor.” Another said, “Soooooo many ingredients. I read almost to the end, and I didn’t even see pistachios.” A third shopper cited the ingredients as “horrible.””
